The Love Our Community Mural is bringing together students, businesses, organizations, and residents to create something that belongs to us all.
As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, here in Louisa County, we’re creating something together.
The Love Our Community Mural is becoming one of Louisa’s signature America 250 projects, bringing together students, businesses, nonprofit organizations, civic groups, churches, families, and residents to create a permanent mosaic that reflects the people who make this community special.
More than 450 Louisa County students from our elementary, middle, and high schools have painted individual tiles through their art classes. Each student received a tile kit complete with everything needed to create their artwork. While every design is unique, the coordinated colors will allow hundreds of individual tiles to come together as one momentous mosaic.

One of the most remarkable things about the project is its simplicity. Every tile kit includes the tile, paints, brushes, and instructions. There is no cost to participate, and every person paints a single tile. Individually, each tile tells its own story. Together, they create a work of art that no one person could create alone.
Now it’s time for the next chapter.
Throughout August and September, the Chamber will continue offering opportunities for community members to paint tiles to complete the design. Businesses and organizations are invited to pick up tile kits from the Chamber and host their own painting experience with employees, volunteers, board members, or leadership teams ordering via this link. It’s an opportunity to step away from the daily routine, spend time together, and become part of a project that will welcome residents and visitors to Historic Louisa for years to come. Installation will take place in October during #TeamLCPS Kindness Month.
“The Love Our Community Mural is about more than creating a beautiful piece of public art. It’s about creating a shared experience for our community during America’s 250th anniversary. This is Louisa County’s contribution to America’s 250th anniversary. Years from now, the mural will remind us not only of this historic milestone, but of the students, businesses, organizations, and residents who came together to celebrate it as one community.” – Tracy Hale Clark, Executive Director, Louisa County Chamber of Commerce
