Leadership Louisa Class of 2026: A Year of Growth, Leadership, and Lasting Impact

And like all good things, this chapter has come to an end.

The Leadership Louisa Class of 2026 wrapped up an incredible year with a graduation celebration to remember. What began months ago as a group of individuals eager to learn more about their community concluded with a class of leaders ready to make a lasting impact in Louisa County.

The day began with a special session featuring Congressman John McGuire. Class members had the opportunity to hear firsthand about his leadership journey, his dedication to public service, and his commitment to remaining accessible and responsive to the people he serves. Congressman McGuire shared valuable insights on leadership, community engagement, and the importance of serving others with integrity and purpose.

From there, the class attended their final session with Wendy from InnerWill. During the morning, participants reflected on their Leadership Louisa experience, the lessons they learned throughout the year, and how they plan to apply their personal values and leadership skills moving forward. As the session concluded, Wendy facilitated a panel discussion with Leadership Louisa alumni. Alumni shared their experiences after graduation, discussed how the program has impacted their personal and professional lives, and offered advice and encouragement to the Class of 2026 as they prepare to begin their own leadership journeys beyond the program.

Before lunch, which was generously served by Smokin’ Eddie’s, the class had the opportunity to take a short tour with PartyBuzzed, one of Louisa’s newest tourism and transportation businesses. The group enjoyed a fun ride through downtown Louisa, taking a brief break from the day’s activities and sharing some laughs before the excitement of the afternoon.

The highlight of the day was the Community Impact Project presentations. Over the past six months, participants worked in teams with local organizations to learn about their missions, identify challenges, and develop practical solutions that could create meaningful, long-term benefits for the community.

Each team presented their final project to a panel of judges:

  • The Artistic Alliance presented solutions for the Louisa Arts Center.
  • Six in the Stix developed recommendations for Brackett’s Farm.
  • Tiara Taskforce partnered with the Miss Louisa Organization.
  • The Dream Team presented their project for the Louisa County Resource Council.

The presentations showcased not only the creativity and dedication of each team, but also the collaborative spirit that Leadership Louisa fosters. The judges were impressed by the thoughtful research, innovative ideas, and tangible solutions presented by all four groups.

Following the project presentations, Tracy Clark and her team hosted a wonderful graduation ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2026. In honor of Leadership Louisa’s fifth anniversary, alumni from each graduating class were invited to walk across the stage, recognizing the program’s growth and the lasting impact it has made throughout the community.

Graduates were inspired by remarks from several outstanding speakers, including Melanie Baker, Board Chair of the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce; Casey Hollins, founder of the Leadership Louisa program; myself as Program Chair; and Cindy King, Class President of Leadership Louisa 2026 and incoming Program Chair for 2027.

The celebration concluded with awards and one final exciting announcement, the presentation of the coveted Top Dog Award for the Community Impact Projects.

And the winner was…

The Dream Team!

Congratulations to The Dream Team(Crystal Hill, Felicia Berry, Dana Poe, Melissa Oyler, and James Fabiano) for their outstanding project and presentation on behalf of the Louisa County Resource Council.

While only one team could take home the Top Dog Award, every participant should be proud of what they accomplished throughout the year. The commitment, teamwork, and passion demonstrated by the Class of 2026 are a testament to the future of leadership in Louisa County.

Congratulations, Leadership Louisa Class of 2026—you did it!
