For Terra Brown, leading Spring Oak at Louisa is a full-circle return more than 20 years in the making.
Born and raised in Louisa, Terra began her senior living career in 2003 as a direct care aide when the assisted living community on West Main Street first opened. Working closely with residents and their families helped shape her passion for senior care and the way she leads today.
Her career later took her into broader leadership roles, but her connection to the community where she started never faded. When the opportunity came to return as Executive Director, Terra brought more than two decades of experience back to the building that helped shape her career.
The community has always meant a great deal to Terra. As someone who knows Louisa and its residents well, she understands how important it is for local families to have a place where they feel supported and cared for.
Today, Terra leads a close-knit team, including several employees who have served the community for many years. She believes consistency, trust and truly knowing each resident are especially important in a small assisted living community.
For Terra, leadership means being present, listening and supporting residents, families and team members through both everyday moments and difficult decisions.
“What truly sets me apart is my unwavering passion for enhancing the lives of seniors, their families, and team members,” Terra said. “Every day, I approach work with a sense of purpose, seeing each moment as an opportunity to create positive, lasting change.”
Terra continues to call Louisa home and is the proud mother of one daughter. More than two decades after first walking through the community’s doors, she has returned to help guide its next chapter.
Today, Spring Oak at Louisa is at 100% occupancy and serving more seniors than ever before. Terra and her team remain available to speak with local families, answer questions and help them better understand their options as they plan for the future.
When asked what is next for Spring Oak at Louisa, Terra’s answer was simple: “I’m here to stay.”
