Mission Statement

The Louisa Forward Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to support the economic, education and community development programs implemented by the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce.

Purpose & Programs

To provide financial support for the economic, education and community development activities and programs of the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce.

To promote and develop economic, civic, cultural, and social welfare of the citizens of Louisa County Virginia and surrounding counties through educational programs.

To conduct programs and events to encourage business enterprise in Louisa County Virginia and surrounding counties.

To promote the use of new communications technologies by business, professional and education communities of Louisa County Virginia and surrounding counties.

To promote and support economic and community development through activities that organize or contribute to commerce in Louisa County Virginia and surrounding counties.

To do and perform all legal acts permitted nonprofit corporations necessary and/or convenient to accomplish the above stated purposes.

NONPROFIT COOPERATIVE

The Nonprofit Cooperative provides opportunities for nonprofit organizations to network and form collaborative relationships with each other, businesses and community leaders.

Recurring events include the annual Nonprofit Summit, quarterly Nonprofit Roundtables, grant writing classes and the Impact Awards.

1927 Legacy Club (1)

The 1927 Legacy Campaign seeks to raise $95,000 in support of the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce. Funds raised through the campaign will be used to pay off the promissory note and renovations to the Main Street office.

We invite you to join the $1,927 Legacy Circle or make a contribution.

Exploring

Fall 2021, the Town of Louisa formally joined the Virginia Main Street (VMS) network and became an Exploring Main Street (EMS) community. Administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), VMS, a preservation-based economic and community development program, follows the Main Street Approach by the National Main Street Center. VMS offers a range of services and assistance to communities interested in revitalizing their historic commercial districts.

The Louisa Forward Foundation (LFF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit initiated by the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce, serves as the lead organization working with a volunteer steering committee.  Their efforts will focus on creating improved economic opportunity downtown and enhancing quality of life through community-driven revitalization efforts.

The Louisa Forward Foundation, in partnership with the Louisa County Chamber of Commerce and community business partners, launched Leadership Louisa designed to help build leaders and grow community.

Leadership Louisa will prepare community leaders for
positions of responsibility by:

  • Providing leadership skill-building, including self
    assessments, teamwork, communication, decision-
    making, & more!
  • Hosting workshops about relevant & unique leadership challenges & demands.
  • Visiting various economic, social & political organizations that provide services and benefits to the community.
  • Acquainting participants with community processes, programs & problems.
  • Developing of a network of new talent for service with public & private commissions & organizations.
  • Creating opportunities to engage newly-obtained skills & knowledge through a comprehensive community service project for a local non-profit.

THE SPRING SWING INVITATIONAL occurs annually in April. The event is purposefully crafted to drive workforce initiatives, and fund a scholarship benefiting graduating seniors from Louisa County High School to pursue higher education at Piedmont Virginia Community College.  

THE CHAMBER CHALLENGE occurs annually in October. The event provides funds to support the annual scholarship for Louisa County High School graduating seniors, the Legacy Campaign and further our mission to support local business and our community.
